0611 English Everyday: Dragon Boast Festival

 

There are some customs during Dragon Boat Festival: having rice dumplings, watching Dragon Boat race, or hanging Moxa on the front door.

Above all, eating rice dumplings is the most common activity.

 

端午節有一些習俗：吃粽子、觀賞划龍舟競賽、或在門前掛上艾草。其中吃粽子是最廣為流傳的活動。

 

 

* rice dumpling(s)   粽子；也可以 tzung tzu 稱呼 (”粽子” 的直接音譯)

* Dragon Boat race   龍舟競賽

* Moxa   艾草

* common   (adj.) 常見的、普遍的

 ex. In America, it is common to have some ice cream every season.  (在美國，每個季節中都吃些冰淇淋是很常見的事)

* sth. is the most common.   某件事是最為人廣用的

 ex. Taking MRT is the most common way to travel in Taipei.  (在台北旅遊最常見的方式是搭乘捷運)

 

## 特別 當...當當當心 ！！！！

       Subject 主詞       Verb動詞       Complement 補語

 

 

大家可能會有疑問：
看到 複數 dumplings，為何動詞不是用 are 呢 ??

 

這是因為此句話是在說：

 吃粽子 Eating rice dumplings  這一件事 是最普遍的活動~~

 而不是在說一顆顆的粽子 ”rice dumplings” 喔 !!

 

換句話說 

主詞 是 Eating rice dumplings 而不是  rice dumplings

 因此動詞為 is 才對~~

 敘述的是這「一」整件事

 要記得動詞是在講哪個主詞喔~~~!!!! >__^
